8/10/2004 :: This week's episode of Axess #44 was entitled, "Fear of Summer Vacation". Beware, spoilers below. On we go!

The episode begins at Meiru and Netto's favourite childhood park. It's summer vacation! Netto (who is wearing a cute new shirt!) is bound determined to catch some insects with his butterfly net. As he constantly yells "Konchuusaishuu!" (Insect collecting!) Meiru, who is outfitted in a pretty dress, watches in dismay as the boy constantly misses his targets.

Netto is upset because all of his other friends have caught something spectacular on their vacations (Dekao has a giant fish and Yaito has a hawk). Netto keeps complaining until Meiru finally smacks him upon the head with her fist. It only stops his ranting, as he returns to trying to catch bugs with his net.

Netto suddenly stops on top of the jungle gym, and Meiru asks if he caught something. However it's just a tiny little butterfly, which Netto states as "No good". Determined not to lose, Netto returns to running around the park like an idiot.

Out in the middle of a searing desert, a lone ancient tower stands. Inside the net, Swordman and Coldman advance to the entrance. As Swordman states that there's no mistaking that this is the place, a new genie-like navi appears before them! "You two....why are you here?"

The two Darkloids call out to the navi by name, which turns out to be Mistman. It seems that they're out on a scouting mission to see if he would like to join their ranks at Nebula. Enticing him with Dr. Regal's promise of Dark Chips, the two try to convince him to return with them.

However, Mistman will take no part in such nonsense! Infuriated by Mistman's response, Swordman fires off his "Sonic Blade!" attack. The genie navi dissappears in a puff of smoke before the attack reaches him, and he reappears behind the Darkloids. Coldman takes his turn by trying to attack with his "Ice Burg Press!", but again their attempts fall short.

As Mistman dissappears for good this time, the two deliberate on what to do next. They obviously don't want to turn back, but something wierd is definately going on. Just then, Yuriko's image appears before them, and she asks how the scouting is going. ^_^;

And so, we are taken back yet again to Netto's adventures of trying to catch at least one insect. As Netto keeps yelling "Konchuusaishuu!", he continues to chase bugs with his net all over the city, dragging a very distressed Meiru along with him. The two travel through various landscapes (most of which are unbelievable and ridiculus).

Meiru begins to scold Netto again, until they suddenly realize that they are very, very....lost. In fact, they're in the middle of a desert! (how convenient) Netto pulls out his PET and asks Rockman where they are. However, not even he knows! Roll explains that they can't get any kind of digital signal where they are.

Meiru becomes frustrated and begins to chew out Netto once again. When Netto begins to retort about Dekao and Yaito, a sudden sand storm kicks up! A giant sand tornado is headed their way, so they flee in the opposite direction. As Netto guides Meiru through the storm, they suddenly come upon the same tower from before. Seeing no other choice, they decide to go find some shelter.

Netto pounds on the massive door, but receives no answer. Refusing to turn back into the storm, Netto asks Meiru to help him barge inside. Just as the two run to ram the entrance together, the doors suddenly open! Meiru crashes down upon Netto as they fall inside. As they get to their feet, the doors slowly close behind them, shutting them in.

As Meiru becomes frightened, Netto simply pulls out his bug net. The boy still won't give up! Netto's insensitive actions result in Meiru grabbing his shirt and shaking him senseless. In the middle of their bickering, a rock comes rolling by, being pushed by a giant beetle! Score!

Netto of course tears off after the beetle, leaving a distressed Meiru to chase him. A bit later, Netto is leading Meiru by the hand down a very dark hallway. Suddenly, Netto spots something up ahead. It's a pair of red glowing eyes! Meiru asks if it's an "obake" (which my dictionary tells me is a "goblin" or "apparition", in other words it's just another way of saying 'ghost').

The mention of a ghost-like figure of course sets Rockman off, who is deathly afraid of them. Netto teases Rockman as he asks if he's really afraid, which upsets the poor navi even more. Despite Rockman's protests, Netto runs towards the mysterious figure. Turns out to be a giant golden camel!

As Meiru and Netto wonder about the camel, it suddenly starts to move on its own! The two take off in a sprint as the possessed creature chases after them. Netto grabs Meiru's hand and drags her off into a side hallway, allowing the camel to run past the other way.

Outside in the desert, Yuriko arrives in a jeep. As she approaches the tower, she takes off her sunglasses. She's obviously less than pleased that Coldman and Swordman were unsuccessful in their mission.

Netto and Meiru open the doors to another dark room. Netto walks inside to search for the beetle they had spotted before. As the two walk side by side, they begin to rise up into the air. It's a flying carpet! As Meiru clings to Netto in fear, the carpet winds itself around the two and traps them!

Meanwhile, Yuriko calls out to Swordman and Coldman with her PET, but only receives static and screams as her answer. Distracted, she runs right smack into the familiar golden camel. Bad luck! Yuriko is forced to flee as the animal begins to chase her down, just like it did to Meiru and Netto. As she's running, she suddenly stops midstep. There's no floor underneath her feet! Yuriko's screams eccho down the long shaft as she plumments downwards.

Netto and Meiru are still trapped inside the flying carpet, and are becoming more embarrassed by the minute, because they are so close to each other, and it's getting rather hot. Netto quickly spots a wire that is connected to the carpet, as well as the control box, so he wastes no time in plugging in Rockman.

Inside the net, Rockman quickly finds the control switch, and turns off the power to the flying carpet. Realizing that there's an internet inside the tower, Netto tells Rockman to look around. Rockman meekly asks if there really is no ghosts around. Netto responds that he doesn't really know, which upsets Rockman. That is, until Roll appears by his side, and takes his hand. ^_^ "It's alright, Rockman! Lets go together!" (hee, Rockman blush!)

Netto and Meiru plug their navis into the main internet. Once inside the server, Rockman and Roll hear a strange sound approaching. Rockman is just about to flee in fear, but Roll tells him to wait. Just then, two screaming Darkloids go roaring by, who are being chased by a hoard of mini magic lamp viruses (Elempra)!

Before they can figure out what's going on, Mistman appears before Rockman and Roll. Roll tries to tell him that they are trying to find their way out, but Mistman won't listen. Instead he poofs into a bunch of the Elempra viruses, which begin to chase Rockman and Roll!

Netto tries to get ahold of Rockman, but isn't receiving any answer. Suddenly, the flying carpet activates again! Netto and Meiru flee from the room in haste. They eventually find themselves in another room, which is filled with bats! Once again they begin to run away.

Inside the net, Rockman and Roll are still running as well. Not only that, but they suddenly find Swordman and Coldman fleeing right beside them! As the two Darkloids run ahead, Rockman quickly comes to a full stop, which causes Roll to run right smack into the back of him. As Roll rubs her head, Rockman wonders why the Darkloids mentioned the name "Mistman".

Meanwhile, Yuriko roams the dark halls, just as lost as the rest of them. As she rants about this wierd place, she begins to rise up into the air. Unfortunately for her, she's run right atop of the flying carpet. Much like Netto and Meiru, she too begins trapped in it as the rug wraps itself around her like a hotdog.

Rockman has found his way back to Netto, and he informs the two about Mistman. As they continue on, they find a room full of treasures! Meiru spots something odd, and runs off for a closer look, with Netto tailing close behind. (This scene left me a bit confuzzled. There is something important about Mistman's treasure, but I can't quite catch the right words.)

Yuriko busts into another room, and spots something wonderful. Rare metal! Yuriko wonders why something like this is in such a wierd place. Suddenly, a strange clicking noise comes from below. Out goes the floor from under Yuriko! And down she goes yet again, plummeting down a hole. Poor Yuriko.

We sadly hear her crash through floor after floor of bricks as she makes her way down, until she finally hits rock bottom. Completely fed up with her situation, Yuriko finally cracks and activates a Dimensional Area around the tower.

The object that Meiru had spotted was a golden magic lamp. As she picks it up and lifts off the lid, she's dissappointed to find nothing inside. It's then that the two notice the Dimensional Area forming around the area. As Netto asks who's the cause of it, Swordman and Coldman appear in the real world directly in front of them.

As Netto tells Meiru to run to safety, he pulls out his PET and performs Cross Fusion. Coldman fires off an "Ice Shoot!" at R Rockman, but misses. However, Swordman comes up from behind, and successefuly swipes him with his sword. When R Rockman gets back to his, Yuriko kicks open the door and comes barging in.

Yuriko quickly points at Meiru, claiming that Mistman is right there. Meiru becomes confused, until pink smoke starts coming out of the magic lamp that she is holding, and Mistman appears! Since Meiru is holding the lamp, she has complete control. Mistman then asks Meiru what her wish is.

Meiru quickly pleads to the genie to save Netto, and defeat the Darkloids. Mistman accepts her wish, and appears at R Rockman's side. As Mistman tells the smaller boy that he will give him his power, R Rockman states that he has no idea what's going on, but he gives his thanks all the same.

Upset that Mistman has joined the ranks of the good guys, Swordman leaps in first to slash at Mistman. However just like last time, Mistman disappears, then reappears behind Swordman, and gives him a good punch. R Rockman becomes amazed by Mistman's power. That is, until Mistman turns on him next. ^_^;; Off to the side we see a gloating Yuriko holding the lamp, and holding a very angry Meiru at bay.

Yuriko: "Now Mistman, defeat Rockman!"

Forced to obey whomever holds his lamp, Mistman grabs ahold of R Rockman in his giant hands, and begins to squeeze him, then slams him into the ground. Mistman raises his fist to attack again, but suddenly stops midway, undeciding on who to attack! Meiru and Yuriko have begun fighting over the lamp, each with a hand on it.

Meiru finally gets ahold of the lamp, and Mistman once again reappears at R Rockman's side. Mistman prepares to fight again, but then suddenly attacks R Rockman with his "Misty Poison!" Turns out Yuriko got the lamp back from Meiru's clutches. Yuriko orders Mistman to defeat Rockman, so the giant navi reappears over on the Darkloid's side.

Just as Swordman and Coldman start gloating over their new friend, Mistman attacks Coldman with his "Majin Tackle!" Meiru snatched the lamp! Mistman once again reappears on R Rockman's side, only to snipe him off with another surprise "Majin Tackle!". Now Yuriko has the lamp!

When Yuriko demands for Mistman to defeat Rockman, a bug net suddenly drops over her head! A very infuriated Meiru uses the net to fling Yuriko away, who just happens to set off another trap, which just happens to be another floor dissappearing under her feet. We all happily watch as Yuriko plummets to her doom.

Meiru catches the lamp from the air, and solidly demands that Mistman help Netto. Mistman gathers all his power, then fires off his final attack, the "Soul Ganger!" as well as the "Misty Poison!" When Swordman cuts through the mist, R Rockman and Mistman are nowhere to be seen!

Mistman appears right behind Swordman, and pummels him with his fist. R Rockman activates a Wide Blade chip, and slices through both of the Darkoids, resulting in pretty explosions and ultimate deletion.

With the Darkloids gone, R Rockman thanks Mistman for his help. However, Mistman replies that he was only doing his sacred duty. With his mission completed, the magic lamp shatters in Meiru's hands. The navi himself fades away into pink smoke. Likewise, Netto reverts to his normal self as he falls out of Cross Fusion.

The two leave the tower as it starts to crumble, and find themselves out in the desert once again. As they turn back to look at the tower, it completely vanishes from sight, as if by magic. Netto feels that Mistman will surely be alright. Meiru and Netto turn around, and walk away hand in hand.

Late at night, Meiru and Netto are still walking together. A rustle in the bushes suddenly alerts them. It's that same beetle pushing the rock around! Netto is uberly happy to find another insect, and of course tears off after it with his net. Meiru feebly calls out to Netto as she chases after him.

Very suddenly it starts to rain, and lightning strikes, frightening Meiru! Netto then realizes that they're lost AGAIN, this time in a very creepy forrest. Netto spots something up ahead, which turns out to be an even more creepy looking house. As the two approach the gate, a man with a chainsaw can be seen from the window! Not only that, but he's after a young woman! Who could only be....

Poor poor Yuriko.

This episode was hilarious. XD It was nice to see more of Netto and Meiru together, this time in a less serious situation. The animation in this episode was also top notch, some of the best I've seen yet. Next week, Rush runs away! And SHEEP! PINK FLUFFY SHEEP! Don't miss it!
