9/11/2004 :: This week's episode of Axess #49 was entitled, "Farewell, Blues". Beware, spoilers below. If there are any translation errors, please let me know, as I did this one on my own. On we go!

It's pouring down rain in Akihara, reflecting the somber mood of its citizens. However, not all is bleak! Yuuichirou has finally finished his own version of the Dimensional Converter, at long last. Not only that, but Meijin has completed the Vaccine Chip: guaranteed to bring Blues back! With these two items, a plan is laid out to retrieve Enzan's lost navi.

Back at IPC, Netto informs Enzan that they're ready to go ahead with their plan to get Blues back. Enzan doesn't give much of a joyful reaction, which puzzles Netto. Enzan then gets up from his desk, and walks over to the large windows, where rain is contineously streaming down. The boy momentarily sees Blues' reflection in his own.

~flashback~

A very young Enzan gently lays a few flowers by a grave, whimpering with tears.

Enzan: "Mother...."

Enzan's father shadow stands over him, and orders the poor boy to stop crying. He's going to be the Vice President of IPC, after all. Shuuseki then informs his son that he will also begin Net Battle training. In fact, his new net navi is waiting for him at home. His name is Blues.

Enzan: "Blues...."

~~

Enzan: "Forgive me, Blues!"

In present day, on Dr. Regal's tanker, Enzan slots in the fated Dark Chip into his PET. Blues' anguished screams eccho through the rain soaked night.

As the current Enzan again mutters Blues' name, he remembers the moment when his navi first told him that he had become a part of Nebula. No longer his navi, he was now reborn as a true Dark Loid.

~end flashback~

Inside a rather rough looking shack, everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) has gathered around a setup of computers, awaiting the final preparations to set their plan into motion.

Netto interrupts Enzan's deep thoughts as he asks what's up, but Enzan says it's nothing at all. Netto just smiles, and offers a thumbs up. "Don't worry about a thing! We have the Vaccine Chip, and the Dimensional Converter. Leave it to me!" Again Enzan doesn't have a very good reaction, remaining in his rather uneasy state.

Meiru looks towards the abandoned hotel that lays a distance behind their current location, where they will set their trap for Blues. Yuuichirou then explains to Netto that this is their final chance to get Blues back. They absolutely must succeed! Meiru tells Netto to be careful, and Dekao tells him his good luck as well. Again, Netto says "Leave it to me!"

However, Enzan finally speaks up, telling them to wait. Enzan tells them that Blues is HIS navi....so it should be his responsibility to get him back. Everyone else shouldn't have to be put in danger because of him. Yaito pipes up, appearing by his side. "What are you saying?! You really don't get it."

Everyone else then speaks up, reaffirming that they'll help him out no matter what. Netto then says, "Everyone is right. Blues is everyone's friend! We'll all save him." Enzan finally, at long last, smiles, then offers his thanks.

Yuuichirou announces that they're ready to go! Soon after, Netto sits alone inside the hotel, with a pair of fake Dimensional Converters standing directly behind him. As soon as Yuuichirou's watch strikes 8:00pm, he orders for the plan to initiate!

Meijin boots up his program, sending out the signal of their Dimensional Converters throughout the net. Surely, Dark Blues will sense their presence, and come to destroy them himself. Meiru asks if he really will come, and Laika assures her that he will. Nebula won't allow anyone else to use the power of Dimensional Areas. Besides, Meijin reminds them that all of the other Dark Loids have been deleted. O_o

Shuuko then realizes that Enzan is no where to be seen. Meiru notices this as well....surely he couldn't have gone to join Netto?! Indeed he has, as Enzan runs up the steps of the back entrance to the hotel, and closes the door behind him. Enzan stops to look at a vaccine chip in his hand, a custom version.

Everyone's hearts begin to pound as they await for the Dark Loid's arrival. Sure enough, an alarm begins to beep, and Dimensional Converters sent by Nebula begin to surround the hotel! As soon as the Dimensional Area forms it's dome, Dark Blues materializes inside the building.

Blues makes his way to the middle of the building, tracking down the Dimensional Converters made by those 'humans'. He charges up a rather nifty looking gun on his right arm, and blasts away! However, what he doesn't realize is that the converters he just destroyed were only decoys.

Blues, thinking his mission is accomplished, berates the human's attempt to outwit the Dark Loids. That is, until Netto's voice sounds out from behind him, "I wonder about that!" Blues turns around, spotting the boy directly behind him. "I've been waiting for you, Blues!" Blues is obviously less than happy to see him, as he retorts, "You bastard! Hikari Netto!"

Netto slots in his Synchro Chip, and quickly performs Cross Fusion with Rockman. With everything set into place, Yuuichirou activates their REAL Dimensional Converters, that had been cleverly hidden underground. The converters successfully make a Dimensional Area -inside- the DA made by Nebula!

Laika holds up his PET, stating that it's time for their part. Everyone plug-in's their navis into the net, coming into direct contact with the gate that connects the internet to the real world. Issuing the order to fire, every single navi unleashes an attack into the gate, destroying it completely!

Blues notices something has gone terribly wrong, and R Rockman informs him that he can no longer flee back to the cyberworld. Either way, things will be finished this night! Stating, "I definately won't give up!", R Rockman activates his buster, and prepares to fight.

Blues immediatly fires off his new gun, and R Rockman nimbly dodges with an Area Steal. Meijin edges Netto on in the fight, "That's the way, Netto-kun! Weaken his Dark Aura!" Yuuichirou speaks up as well, stating that once his Dark Aura has diminished, they can administer the Vaccine Chip.

Blues fires off another shot, which bursts through the roof of the building, and directly hits the Dimensional Area wall. The scientists become alarmed when the DA strength reduces down to 63%! Blues fires off yet another shot, this time aimed at R Rockman, who deflects it with Dream Aura. However, as the shot reflects off his defenses, it strikes the DA wall again, plummeting its strength down to an alarming 25%!

Yuuichirou then realizes that Blues' Dark Aura is having a very negative effect on the Dimensional Area itself. Blues breaks out in a fit of laughter, believing that R Rockman is utterly powerless against him. R Rockman narrows his eyes, then deactivates the buster on his right arm. Blues becomes confused when R Rockman then retracts his mouth guard, leaving himself completely wide open to attacks.

Netto resolves that the only thing he can do....is absorb the Dark Aura himself! He remembers back to the time on Dr. Regal's spacecraft, when Blues momentarily returned to normal when he came into direct contact with Rockman. Despite Yuuichirou's feeble attempts of yelling at him to stop, both Netto and Rockman have made up their minds.

R Rockman holds open his arms wide, ordering for Blues to use all the strength he's got. Seeing no harm in utterly destroying his foe, Blues complies, and releases a massive Dark Aura attack! The emmense power swirls around R Rockman, lifting him up into the air as it slices away at his body.

Everyone watches in stunned fear as R Rockman releases scream after scream of pain. Enzan arrives on a balcony far above them, and yells out Netto's name. Blues continues to laugh, haughtingly asking, "What do you think, Hikari Netto?! Rockman!" R Rockman simply grits his teeth, claiming, "I'll never give in...to a Dark Aura....!"

As soon as the words leave his mouth, R Rockman's navi symbol begins to glow brightly, and all of the Dark Aura is diminished! The Dark Aura readings on Meijin's computer suddenly plummet, revealing that Blues is finally weak enough for them to handle!

With everything now set in place, Yuuichirou orders the activation of the Vaccine Chip! The computer locks down onto Blues' location, and a button is pressed, revealing a battle chip gate inside the building. Rockman's insigna upon the BCG begins to glow, then fires off a white beam, striking Blues directly in the back!

Blues' entire body begins to glow with a bright light, and the Dark Loid begins to scream as the vaccine begins to take its toll. Piece by piece, Blues' body reverts back to its original state, until at last his entire form is what it once was. We see a closeup of Blues' symbol on his chest, which then zooms even further into the depths of his systems, where the Dark Chip lies.

Blues continues to scream in agony as the Dark Aura is repelled from his body, and the Dark Chip begins to crack. R Rockman watches from a safe distance, triumphantly stating, "Just a bit....just a bit more!" At long last, the Dark Chip inside of Blues' body completely shatters!

However....something goes very, very wrong. Instead of dissappearing....the Dark Chip is replaced by a brand new copy! R Rockman and Enzan watch horrified as Blues transforms his body back into its powerful Dark Loid state. "The Vaccine Chip failed?!"

"Too bad for you!", Blues states, as he explains that he's completely merged with the Dark Chip inside of him. Blues' soul is entirely gone, leaving nothing but the Dark Loid in its shell. Once again fully back to power, Blues prepares to finish off R Rockman for good.

As R Rockman raises up an arm in defense, Enzan wastes no time in slotting in his own custom Vaccine Chip into his Battle Chip Gate. R Rockman becomes surprised when the chip settles itself into his buster arm, and is even more surprised to see Enzan there!

Enzan: "Netto, fire the Vaccine Chip!"
Netto: "Enzan! Why are you here?!"
Blues: "You bastard!"
Enzan: "Fire it! Hurry!"
Netto: "Got it!"

R Rockman hurridly fires the shot, which is a direct hit with Blues' navi symbol. Blues' symbol glows with a rainbow of colors for a moment, then quickly fades away. Blues just laughs it off, and turns to face Enzan. "Give it up! I'm a Dark Loid!"

Deciding to take care of Enzan first, Blues leaps upwards in a fury of determination. Enzan jumps up onto the railing of the balcony, and likewise flings himself off, heading straight for his former navi. R Rockman can only watch as Enzan suddenly slots in his Synchro Chip, and collides with Blues in an outburst of energy!

Stunned completely with shock, R Rockman stares as R Blues lands a few feet away from him. A very deep and troubling laugh emits from Blues, his shoulders shaking. As his face lifts up to where we can see, Netto becomes horrified at the demonic features that have taken over Blues, far worse than his Dark Loid form ever was.

Netto: "Something's wrong! That's not Enzan!"

R Blues lets out a deafening roar, his body erupting with the power of the Dark Aura.

Netto: "Enzan is.....dead? That can't be!"

R Blues gathers the power of the Dark Aura into his hands, and flings it off at R Rockman, striking a direct hit. As he's flung up into the air, R Blues catches him by the throat, and begins to strangle him without mercy. R Rockman struggles to bring his hands up to R Blues' arm, and defiantly screams out Enzan's name.

~~~~~~~~
We're taken to a very dulled out landscape, which leads us to a building....it's Enzan's old home. Enzan's voice feintly calls out, asking where he is, utterly lost. He then realizes....this is the darkness of the Dark Aura. In fact, it's the inside dwelling of Blues' very own heart. This is also the place where he met Enzan for the very first time.
In front of a lone statue inside the estate, Enzan and Dark Blues reappear directly in front of each other. After a short moment of recollection, Blues charges up his gun, determined to destroy his former operator. As he lets loose the attack, Enzan manages to dodge, and the shot destroys the wall behind him instead. As the debris crumbles away, the sight of a very young Enzan, clutching a red PET, is revealed.
Enzan: "You are....you are my net navi?"
Blues: "Nice to meet you. My name is Blues. I am at your service, Enzan-sama."
Enzan: "Really? Then.... you'll always be with me?!"
Blues: "I belong to you."
Enzan: "Thank you, Blues!"
The memory image of a child Enzan hugging his newfound friend, residing inside his PET is shattered away as Dark Blues blasts the wall again. Blues shows no remorse in destroying his past, until he looks up at Enzan, who is staring directly at him with no fear in his eyes. Refusing to let Enzan get to him, he activates a Variable Sword on his right arm, and lunges at the other boy.
Just before he strikes, Enzan dissappears in a flash of light. Blues quickly follows suit, and the two of them reappear on the roof of the building. Blues once again lets loose a sword swipe of Dark Aura straight at Enzan, and this time he doesn't dodge. Enzan's clothes become sliced as the specks of Blues' blade pass him by.
Ignorning the pain, Enzan takes a few steps closer to Blues, alarming the Dark Loid navi. Reactivating his Dark Aura gun, Blues unleases a full frontal assualt, which Enzan still endures, not budging from his slow advancement. Becoming obviously frightened at this point, Blues continues to release more attacks, but his reckless behavior causes him to miss each time.
Contineously yelling "Diiiee .....ENZAN!", cloud after cloud of dust explodes as each hit misses Enzan by a hair. As one of these clouds of dust waves past Enzan, he suddenly transforms into R Blues. Determined to get his navi back no matter what, the opening theme of Axess begins to play in the background of the scene.
"Why...why aren't you afraid?! WHY?!" Blues demands as he reactivates a blade on his arm, and sends a slashing strike straight at Enzan. Once again Enzan endures the assault, half of his R Blues visor shattering, and revealing a single blue eye.
Enzan continues to advance towards Blues, who is now being held in place as a pair of vines wrap around his legs. Yelling, "What is this?! Stay away....stay away from me!" Enzan finally comes face to face with Blues, calmly stating "Your heart is still here." Blues lets out a final scream of "Stay away!" as the sun begins to rise over the hilltops.
Back in the real world, a struggling R Rockman slowly reaches a single hand forward, and grasps DS R Blues' navi symbol within his fist. Netto lets out a determined yell as he forcibly begins to suck the Dark Aura out of Blues' body.
Underneath the shining rays of sunlight, a very shocked Dark Blues is being gently held in Enzan's arms.
Enzan: "Blues.....you are......my navi....."
Enzan falls out of Cross Fusion, still holding his navi close to him. In the real world, DS R Blues' begins to shout about his Dark Aura, yelling at R Rockman to stop what he's doing. However, he's too late. Blues' body is enveloped within a golden light as the Dark Aura is finally destroyed.
On the rooftop, Dark Blues is unable to make but a few meek sounds as Enzan holds him. Enzan watches painfully as Blues' body begins to turn to stone. "En......zan......", is his final word, before fading away into a million shards of dust.
Inside the mansion, the statue that the two had stood before earlier begins to crumble. Amazingly, Blues' original form falls out of it, and lands on the ground unconcious! In the real world, R Rockman gains back his senses, and sees R Blues standing very still directly in front of him.
Netto: "What the...?"
Rockman: "Blues is....alive!"
Enzan slowly stumbles his way inside the building, until he comes across his navi, who is fast asleep on the floor. Enzan kneels down beside him, saying with tears in his eyes, "You really have....come back, Blues." Enzan then gently places his hand upon the navi's head, and Blues begins to glow with a very soft light.
With the ordeal finished, the Dimensional Area around the main building is finally released. Everyone rushes forward as Netto falls out of Cross Fusion, obviously worried over his condition. Netto slowly turns around to face everyone, a smile spread across his battered face.
Yuuichirou: "Netto...."
Netto: "Papa....Blues.....came back...."
Netto falls into his father's arms, falling unconcious. Even so, he still remains smiling.
Yuuichirou: "Thank goodness......Netto, thank you."
Meanwhile, Enzan sits by himself, his clothes worn and sliced from the battle. However, he's still smiling as well. In his hands, he holds his red PET. Inside, resides his beloved navi
Blues: "Enzan-sama.....I'm so sorry....because of me, you..."
Enzan: "Don't worry about it anymore...."
Blues: "Yes sir."
Enzan leans back against the wall, closing his eyes, his PET resting in his hands. "Thank you....Netto.
*sniffles* ;_; This, by far, is my most favourite episode of EXE....ever. The final conflict of Dark Blues was done so outstandingly well. Finally, at long last, both Enzan and Blues were given the character devolopment that they have needed this entire series long. Definately, definately...one of the best episodes ever.
Next week, everyone's favourite baddies are back! Dr. Regal, Shademan, Bubbleman, and of course, Shuryou/Forte. A Dimensional Area large enough to cover the entire world? Dr. Regal's final plan is put into action! Don't miss it!
